I have been using Firefox as my browser of choice for about 2.5 years now, starting with Firefox 1.5. I liked the tabbed feature of Firefox, which wasn’t available in Internet Explorer at the time. Then I discovered the add-ons for Firefox and it just kept getting better.

A couple of the add-ons I have been using are NoScript and IE Tab. NoScript is great as it prevent scripts running on a site unless you choose to allow them, this means that in cases of an advert laden webpage, most of them will not work unless you want them to. IE Tab is ideal for those sites that just will not work properly unless you are using Internet Explorer.

BlogCatalog Community Organ Donation Awareness Campaign

While checking BlogCatalog last night, I came across the following discussion Make History on Wednesday.

What BlogCatalog are asking people to do is to blog to raise awareness about organ donation and the issues surrounding organ donation.

The BBC on their website are also running a DoNation season to raise awareness.

Both my wife and I have carried donor cards for several years, but last night I signed up on the UK Transplant Organ Donor Register. As they point out cards get damaged or lost or you might not have it with you. From their site:

Since 1 April 2007:

* 229 people have donated organs

* an additional 518 people have donated corneas

* 640 people have received the gift of sight

* 695 people have received transplants

* 7,304 people are still waiting for transplants

While following links about this, I also looked at the National Blood Service website. I used to be a blood donor and keep meaning to get back. I knew that they were appealing for donors, but wasn’t really aware how low the stocks were until last night.

Clear Night
I had an email from Alan at WeatherUnderground thanking me for my post about weather stickers. To get rid of the annoying ads, he has sent me a 1 year gift membership, which allows you to see the WeatherUnderground site without any adverts. I didn’t even know they did memberships, it just looked like another ad on the site at first glance. Anyway, I’ve added the widget under the WeatherPixie one, which gives me temperature in Celcius and a clock, I’m not sure if the clock is picking up from the local system or displaying UK time, maybe you can let me know in the comments what you see.

With my membership, I get to give a gift membership to someone else, so what I’ll do is the first person to request the gift membership in the comments will get it, just drop me an email after leaving your comment so that I have your email address, my address is on my contact me page.
