I have finished reading the new Raymond Feist book Into a Dark Realm. This continues from Flight of the Nighthawks that I read a year ago.

It was an excellent read, one of his best since Magician. He did say on Monday that he would get hate mail for leaving it as he did, and I can to an extent understand this. It was really left on a cliffhanger, and now I have to wait until the next part is written.

Cloudy Night OK, I’ve just realised that it is nearly a month since I have posted anything here. I don’t know where the time has gone. So, it looks like I’d better add a couple of past entries for September.

Rainy
We went to a book signing in Milton Keynes this evening. Raymond Feist’s new book Into a Dark Realm had been published at the beginning of the month and he was over in the UK on a signing tour. It’s a small world; we met a couple we know from school, who are also great Feist fans.

He was very entertaining to listen to during his talk and and afterwards I bought a copy of the new book, which he signed for me. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, I should have taken some of his earlier books and got them signed as well.

Cloudy The roof tile is clipped back in place. He checked out another tile we weren’t sure about and that is fine as well. It’s a good feeling to have a watertight roof again.

Cloudy The good news is the man can fix the tile, but he didn’t have the right type of ladder with him. He will be back on Monday to clip the tile in place.

The spare tiles that I had in the shed for just this sort of occasion are not as useful as I thought, as they are all edge tiles. At least he didn’t tell me I needed a new roof!

Rainy
What can I say… it rained this afternoon and I don’t think I have ever got so wet before.

When I got back from the school run, we had just finished getting changed, when the power went out.

The rain water was pouring through my daughter’s light fitting and had tripped the circuit breaker. I went up into the loft with the torch and got a couple of buckets under the leaks and dried up where the water was coming through the light fitting. After a while I was able to get the power back on. Then the rain stopped for a while and so I was able to see that a tile had slipped on the roof at the back. This meant that when it rained it was running down the felt inside and finding a couple of small holes to pour through.

Got a man coming tomorrow to look at the tile.
