Searching for ancestors

I didn’t get round to posting anything last night as I was trying to catch up on my Family Tree research. I’ve come to the conclusion there are not enough hours in the day to do everything.

I have a subscription to www.Ancestry.co.uk which allows me access to the UK Census images from 1841-1901. I spent time last night searching for people that I have in my database to find them in each applicable census. I use a spreadsheet to record the referance of each person in each census otherwise I loose track of who I have already found and who is outstanding.

I took the easy option last night of searching for some of the newer additions to the database. Some of the older entries are proving more difficult to find. For example, my Great Grandmother, Caroline Moulden, is particularly elusive in the 1891 census. I have her in the 1881 and 1901 censuses, but have been unable to track her down in the 1891. She would have been about 17 and so was probably in service. I did manage to find about a dozen people in several of the available censuses, but no new names last night.
