OK, it’s not what you think, it’s not my blog’s birthday (that’s at the end of July). No, just over a year ago, I joined MyBlogLog and started the more active phase of my blog. Joining exposed me to many new blogs, many of which I still follow. It also gained me some regular readers, even if my posting isn’t regular.
One of the blogs I found on MyBlogLog after a couple of days was a newcomer to blogging. She had just posted about venturing in at the shallow end of blogging and I knew what she meant. I am of course talking about one of my regular commentors, jmb, at Nobody Important who has been blogging for 1 year today. So Happy Blogging Birthday jmb.
If you haven’t come across jmb’s blog, do yourself a favour and check it out, here are some to get you started:
- Chocolate — The Achilles’ Heel of JMB
- Australia — Some Thoughts and Some Introductions
- Graduation Gift — Italy (Part V) Assisi and Umbria
One thing that is noticeable about my early posts is how short they are and devoid of detail. OK, some things haven’t changed, my posts are still short, but not as brief as this one from May 2006:
The shower valve arrived today and is now fitted and working.
Hmm, I really knew how to thrill a reader in those days.

My goodness, what a surprise when this post popped up on my bloglines feed.
Aren’t I a handsome old gal ? Thank you Ian, one of the commenters on my very first post. But you didn’t link properly so I had no idea who you were until you came back again!
I liked those first two posts and another one about being an immigrant and my immigrant connections, those three being my favourites.
You will be having your third anniversary in July. I wonder if I’ll make that.
regards
jmb
Hi jmb,
My pleasure. It doesn’t seem like only a year has passed since I started reading your blog.
Yes, I remember, I was logged into Google when I commented, but didn’t have a blogger account set up, so my profile didn’t exist. You learn things the hard way.
I hope you make it to 3 years and beyond. As you said in your post, it is time consuming, so I hope your books don’t suffer too much for your blogging.
Regards,
Ian
Wow, 1 year! It’s not easy to maintain a blog, eh? Happy birthday to Ian’s blog.
