Re-attached a branch of the family tree
Lyall rang from New Zealand this morning to wish us Merry Christmas. While we were talking, he mentioned that there was someone on Genesreunited who had listed my greatgrandmother with the correct location and dates. I contacted them this morning and have had an email back and access to her tree. She is my second cousin on a branch of the family that everyone had lost contact with.
So at the moment I’m all of a twitter having just added several new members of the family.
All in all a great Christmas present.

My car’s better now
My car has been sick for the last few days. When I got to work on Monday morning, I could hear a ticking sound, the sound hot metal makes as it cools down. When I got out of the car, I could ‘smell’ something was hot and on investigation it turned out that the passenger side rear brake disc was extremely hot. I concluded from this that the calliper had stuck on.
I rang the garage, but they were fully booked until today. Very few of the people at my work actually live in or travel through Dunstable any more, so I was starting to despair of finding a lift. I did manage to find a lift which I was very grateful for and it didn’t inconvenience them as they travel past the end of my road.

That is the title of this post, which should by all rights have been written yesterday.
Following the Music Centre Concert on Saturday morning, the kids went back with Jo’s Mum and Dad to stay overnight. This left us on our own, so we went kids free shopping in the afternoon.
Then in the evening we were picked up by some friends and all went to the Friends of Dunstable Music Centre Christmas meal. It was held at at The Old Farm Inn in Tottenhoe again, the same venue as last year. Some of the group are regulars there, singing and playing music on Monday nights. There were 13 of us in total, there should have been 14, but one of our friends dislocated his knee while carrying an amp out at the end of the concert.
Music Centre Christmas Concert
It was the last day of the term at Music School today and this morning was the end of term concert.
There were a couple of alterations to the programme, the first of which was the location. Normally the concert takes place at Manshead Upper School, where the classes take place. However, the school hall has been set out for mock exams starting on Monday, so it wasn’t available. Manshead shares the same campus with a middle and lower school, so the concert moved to Streetfield Middle School.
